In the present age, the teens have N number of temptations and their "things to do" list keeps on increasing. Working parents hardly have any time to spend with their teenager kids. Anxiety, school performance, football matches and dance troupes...the teens seem to be too busy to rest and hence the teen sleep problems. Adding to the situation is the physical changes that the teen goes through in puberty. Hormones and rushing adrenalin can bring so drastic changes in their behavior and also in their sleep patterns. Almost every kid in their growing age has to go through the teen sleep problems. Teenage kids spend a lot of their time at home either chatting over phone or watching television. Watching late night movies, going for late night parties are something that they consider essential to maintain their newly found social status. Kids are so busy in school/college and in catching up with their friends that they postpone all their studies and homework to the night. The only way to solve teen sleep problems arising due to the above discussed reasons is that the kids should be made to understand the need of a healthy sleep routine. Parents of teenage kids need to be more assertive in emphasizing the need of proper sleep times.Teenage kids can become very moody and temperamental. Hence, parents need to be more careful in dealing with them. Making house rules such as "the last permissible time for entering the house", "television timings" etc can help in enforcing a proper schedule. Healthy lifestyle with the right amount of exercise, nutritious eating and good night sleep can help solve teen sleep problems. Similarly, parents should emphasize on having at least one meal together. These petty steps can go a long way in inculcating proper routine in child's life and keep teen sleep problems at bay.
